what is ceer?

In 2015, a call was made to several universities in the country to advance a collaborative work with a view to generate information that would allow greater knowledge about the seismic behavior of buildings built with systems of thin-walled walls. From this call was formed a working group between Professors Carlos Blandón (Universidadad EIA), Ricardo Bonett (Universidad de Medellín), Carlos Arteta (Universidad del Norte) and Julián Carrillo (Universidad Militar Nueva Granada), which together with Instituto Politécnico de Lausana (EPFL) in Switzerland, developed an initial research program for this purpose. In 2017, the group of Colombian entities previously mentioned formed the COLOMBIAN EARTHQUAKE ENGINEERING RESEARCH NETWORK.

CEER is formed by four founders institutions: La Universidad EIA, La Universidad de Medellin, la Universidad del Norte and Universidad Militar Nueva Granda. Every Institution chooses a representative that is allowed to participate periodically assuming Direction, Secretary and Communication charges.

CEER’s objective is to reduce the seismic risk in Colombia through the development of investigations where the Institutions mentioned work together.
